DRC #163/2025
10/15/25 | B | +2.56R (-0.05R in comms, fees & locates)
OVERVIEW: Yesterday was pretty lame and I ended up postponing that recap indefinitely. Had no locates on the big movers in the PM (like always these days), was up a little during RTH on one solid reversal trade on a pennystock, and proceeded to give back those gains AH on the soybean garbage with COOT being the main offender.
Pretty happy with how I traded today. Stayed away from the soybean names in the PM; locates were again either not available or super expensive and moonmarket was pumping COOT. Ended up fading nicely but I just didn’t want to have to content with that potential headache early in the day.
Not much in terms of daytrades after the bell. SANA would’ve made for a decent base hit on the Erik Jackson pump but I missed it.
Finally got the crack in the most speculative names we’d looked for so long. Indexes bounced strongly, yet they remained weak all day. The first time we’re seeing this kind of relative weakness on them. OKLO looks like it’s done but I’m still not fully sold on quantums. Think odds are small but non-zero these trap again and squeeze shorts one last time. We gotta be close to the top though and I think we’ll see a -20%/-30% day on them soon. That should signal the backside being in and make shorting them on pops a lot more feasible.
SWING TRADES:
UAMY ST CH | daily OE
Rare earths name. Absurd daily OE and one of the cleanest parabolics out there. Tons of spec names got super extended but few of them actually capitulated. This was one of them.
Cracked hard yesterday after the open after gapping above $20 in the PM. Shorted the bounce risking ORH in the daytrade account.
Held the whole position overnight and covered into the low teens. Down to a very small trailer.
Had taken it in the swing account a day earlier AH when it continued melting higher after a +50% day. Thought the odds of this going truly crazy towards $25-$30 the next day were non-zero and I wanted to leave myself room for that; thus, missed the adds in the $20 area. Never know in this market, better safe than sorry.
Same principle applies to my RGTI & OKLO swings which I’ve nursed for a while. Had booked some nice profits on OKLO on the last leg, held a small trailer and added back this week and earlier today.
RGTI I had started last week because I thought there was considerable risk of a random big gap down and I wanted to be involved in some capacity. Never added to it because there wasn’t an obvious reason to; it just kept pulling back at the open only to rebid and melt higher for the rest of the day. An obvious signal would’ve been an exhaustion gap or a break of the above-mentioned pattern. We got the latter today and I added. The add was smaller; would’ve much preferred a parabolic extension but I wouldn’t be surprised if they rolled over in the lamest fashion possible. That would at least be the one constant for these names. Didn’t even double down and my average is still pretty trash in the $47.4s. Would add again through daily PBL which it has held for the entire second leg and then use a hard stop at today’s highs. Still pretty small on this at ~25% of a full pos.
Ridiculous close on this again. Looks like we might be in for real fireworks before this is over. IONQ hovering at lows and this goes straight back to highs; wild.
DAY TRADES:
TBH RSotVS FS | merger
DA for a merger. Absolute trash company. Had tanked hard the other day after announcing they’d dumped all their money into Dogecoin. Genius idea with the rug pull we’d seen on Friday. That added to my conviction of this being a good short today.
Wasn’t too interested in the first two small legs. No real acceleration, hadn’t created much distance to the UP, just chopped around. Held VWAP, flagged, and broke out. Finally showed some decent acceleration in both price and volume on this last leg. Spotted the turn on the tape and went short against highs. Undersized this a little given how tight the stop was.
Rolled over, made another attempt at highs, and rejected strongly so I added. Covered a little less than half through VWAP and more on the following legs. The backside was extremely linear and it hadn’t even broken 5m PBH. When it finally did after retracing most of the move, I took off the balance. Ended up being a mistake in hindsight for it did fully roundtrip later in the session.
IBG FBO | merger deal
Not a huge fan of trading M&A headlines and this only made one leg so lowered size on the trade. Traded up around 80% into a daily pivot. Broke that level and PMH but couldn’t FT and closed well below, in line with the FBO pattern of the last month or so. Took a position against highs, added on the next rejection.
Flushed hard and I covered 40% into that. Looked like it was done to me and I added back what I’d covered into the bounce. Went a lot further than I thought it would. Covered a piece into the quick dip back to $5 but it bounced yet again. When it reclaimed VWAP and with how it was flagging I thought it could break highs or roll over again from there; basically a coin flip at that point and I decided I’d just let it play out – W or b/e trade.
Ended up working in my favor, I took off some more into $5 again and more when it finally took out that level. Held a third into the open and it initially resolved lower but then rebid strongly and I took off the rest. Didn’t think the odds of this roundtripping were too great given the headline and it had already retraced most of the move so -EV in risking unrealized gains for another ~$0.5 move in my favor.
GNPX RSotVS BS | continuation
No fresh news today; had moved AH yesterday after announcing cancer therapy data. Made a decent move out of the gates but on these pennystocks in particular I want to insist on an accelerated move or they can easily turn into all-day grinders and this was still too controlled for my taste.
Made the move I’d looked for into 11AM. Broke above $1, rejected twice and I went short. There was an insane iceberg bidder on this, reloading hundreds of thousands of shares repeatedly. The decrement in the $1.02-$1 range was super clean and I added when he got taken out.
Covered some into the second leg in my favor, then looked for VWAP for my next PTs. Added back a little on the turn of the first significant bounce off that level and continued to cover pieces into deeper moves in my favor. Had held 20% and looked for an ADF on that but when it reclaimed VWAP yet again and made another HH, I hit out.
